I used to put sour cream on just about anything when I was younger.  Now I rarely buy the stuff although it still has a special place in my heart. When I do buy it, it ends up going bad before I can use it all, so I came up with an alternative.

One night I was making chicken tacos and got a craving for sour cream. Really, anytime I make Mexican (my favorite food) I crave sour cream. I definitely didn’t want to go out and buy just one item, especially since I was almost done cooking and couldn’t wait to take a bite out of my taco.  What’s a girl to do? Since I buy the big tub of  Fage 0 % Greek Yogurt for smoothies, and light snacks I decided to give something else a try.  I took a few scoops of the plain Greek yogurt and mixed in some Salsa Autentica (avoid chunky salsa’s for this).  I stirred it until it was smooth, gave it a taste, and to my surprise, it was damn good! I couldn’t believe it….I didn’t even miss the sour cream. Since the Greek yogurt is generally thicker than regular yogurt it had the same consistency of sour cream and the salsa just gave it a kick…perfect for tacos.

So not only do I get another use out of my Greek yogurt, I have a healthier alternative to sour cream without skimping on flavor.
